The following policies have been updated:

The relevant changes are:

  • Retired (Ret.) via Honorable Discharge shall now be permitted to attend operations without reactivation to the active force.
  • This should be done via request to the Field Leader who may manually assign the requestor via the usual method.
  • Retired (Ret.) members may only be manually assigned less than 24 hours to the official STARTEX time.

The purpose of this policy change is to allow Retired members to attend operations where they can and to fill vacant positions where they exist. If a retired member exercises this right but occurs a no-show, then this privilege shall be revoked as outlined in FM/BP-247. By restricting this to last minute manual assignment we hope this has no adverse impact (i.e. only positive impact) on active force members and should a Retired member regularly exercise this, they would be more likely to re-activate since this would allow greater choice of slots.

Retired members are required to uphold all the same standards as active force members, therefore in the unlikely event that a Code of Conduct violation is made by a Retired member then their Retired status may be reviewed by the Commanding Officer and in which case, they would no longer be able to benefit from this policy change.

These changes are effective immediately, Retired members will not appear right away in the MA list on ORBATs, but this change is incoming - if you have any issues assigning one then please let us know.
