What is Winter Selection?

UNITAF's Organisational Chain of Command (ORGCOC) is re-appointed every six months. The ORGCOC is crucial in managing UNITAF's day-to-day operations, composed of NCOs and Officers dedicated to executing the overall strategy and direction of the unit as defined by Central Command.

As we now approach the winter term, we invite both existing and new members to engage with the process and contribute to our ongoing success. If you want to support and influence the future development of UNITAF, this is your chance!

How is the ORGCOC performing?

The ORGCOC changed somewhat with the last summer selection, to a large extent merging Service Command and Operations Command. The period since last selection also saw some important roster changes, with Maj James stepping aside into a chairmanship position, myself taking his position as Commanding Officer and 2Lt Aiedail subsequently being promoted to Personnel Officer.

Overall, these transitions have been relatively smooth, and much of this can be attributed to the solid foundation our staff members have built since we implemented the revised unit structure in early 2022. Whilst I have been for the most part quiet since I personally stepped up to Central Command, a fair bit of work has been done internally to ensure we do indeed prioritise our development resources correctly and in line with broader unit requirements.

It should be evident to long-standing members that the frequency of operations has decreased since just before the summer holidays. This does to a large degree relate to a decrease in active (and available) mission creators and field leaders. Unsurprisingly, then, this is high on the priority for OC to rectify as we go into the winter period. The hope is that the theatre system, which is being used in a hybrid solution these days, will aid the development of newer GMs and lower the threshold to mission creation even further. If you do want to get into mission creation, J3 very much wants to hear from you.

As for the transition to FTS, the progress has been slow but steady. A few potential challenges with the system has been identified and rectified, which means that we are soon ready to launch Core Infantry into FTS. This will be the biggest area to be launched to date, and does affect everyone in one way or another, so I do hope everyone takes their time to update themselves on its contents once it goes live.

How to declare my interest?

Interested persons should directly contact the responsible officer for each command (recommended method is Discord Direct Message):
  • Personnel Command: 2Lt Aiedail (PC)  (2Lt Aiedail is unavailable until the 22nd of October.)
  • Operations Command: 2nd Lieutenant Zuka (OC)
  • Training Command: 1Lt Whitewolf (TC)

When is the deadline?

The deadline for indicating interest in positions or command changes is now set for Sunday November 3rd 2024 and the selection will take place from this date until the term starts on Sunday December 1st 2024.

Who can/should respond to the Summer Selection?

All members of UNITAF's active force are encouraged to reach out to the respective command officers if they wish to contribute to the various commands or are seeking a management role within the ORGCOC. Your engagement is essential for the effectiveness of our operations across the board.

How can I engage with the Summer Selection?

  • Serving ORGCOC members must contact the relevant officers outlined above confirm their intentions regarding extending their term, transferring, or stepping down before the deadline passes.
  • Prospective or interested members should reach out to the officers of the command they are interested in joining to express their interest and discuss potential roles - even if you have previously done so.

I look forward to seeing your active participation. Your contributions are what make UNITAF the formidable force it is today.
