In-game, a temporary command structure operates on a per-operation basis. From STARTEX to ENDEX, role always precedes rank as dictated by the Order of Battle (ORBAT) and standard operating procedures.

Guide

In UNITAF Operational Chain of Command (OPCOC) is the temporary Chain of Command (COC) for a mission as outlined by the deployments ORBAT. During missions communication flows through the OPCOC and this is also the case pre-mission (Briefing) and post-mission (De-briefing) this is an important part of the execution process because as with all elements of COC, limits communication flow. For that same reason, Fireteam Leaders don’t attend Platoon Debriefings and Squad Leaders don’t attend Company Debriefings - in accordance with the rule of twos.
