Requesting a SITREP

A SITREP is requested by a superior element from a subordinate element as follows:

SUPERIOR: [SUBORDINATE CALLSIGN], THIS IS [SUPERIOR CALLSIGN], SITREP.

Responding to a SITREP Request

If you need a brief moment to gather information, reply:

YOU: “WAIT OUT.”

When ready, call the superior callsign to indicate you are ready to provide the SITREP:

YOU: [SUPERIOR CALLSIGN], THIS IS [YOUR CALLSIGN], SITREP.

Proactive SITREP

If you have urgent or significant updates, you can initiate a SITREP to your superior by calling them first:

YOU: [SUPERIOR CALLSIGN], THIS IS [YOUR CALLSIGN], SITREP

(Note: Subordinate units do not request SITREPs from superiors.)

Request

A SITREP is requested by a superior element only to a subordinate element, as follows;

SUPERIOR: [SUBORDINATE CALLSIGN], THIS IS [SUPERIOR CALLSIGN], SITREP.

Response

  • When responding to this request you can first respond with the "WAIT OUT" transmission to allow time to gather information.
  • When ready to respond you should transmit;

YOU: [THIER CALLSIGN], THIS IS [YOUR CALLSIGN], SITREP.

Note: you can proactively provide a SITREP to a superior callsign using the same transmission. This is because you would not ask a superior callsign for a SITREP so your transmission will indicate your desire to pass one.
