Guide
FM/BG-590 - What is an ACE report?
Guide

An ACE report (ACEREP) is a brief summary of an element’s status, requested by and reported to the element’s direct leader. ACE stands for AmmoCasualty, and Equipment, which are the three components of the report, in the order in which they must be reported. ACE reports address what is needed, not what is remaining. Additionally, if multiple items are reported within the Ammo or Equipment components, they should be ordered from highest to lowest severity.

As a Squad Leader, ACE reports from your Fireteam Leaders are compiled to form the ACEREP that you give to the platoon to your platoon commander.

Skill
FM/BS-589 - Give a structured ACE report
Skill

Give an ACE report utilizing the proper format: AmmoCasualty, and then Equipment, and utilizing keywords like ‘green’ and ‘black’ when appropriate.

ACE Report Components

1. Ammo

  • Indicates how much ammunition you are missing and need to have resupplied.
  • This includes primary and secondary weapon magazines, grenades, and non-disposable launcher ammunition.
  • If you need any ammunition, specify exactly what you need, such as how many magazines or grenades.

Note that expended disposable launchers and missing non-disposable launchers should be reported in the Equipment component.

2. Casualty

  • Indicates any injuries you have which need to be treated and/or will need higher medical attention to resolve.
  • This includes: open wounds, unstitched wounds, significant blood loss, and fractured limbs.

Note that this does not include medical supplies, such as bandages. Those should be included in the Equipment component.

3. Equipment

  • Indicates what equipment you are missing and need to have resupplied.
  • This includes expended disposable launchers, missing non-disposable launchers, medical equipment, demolition equipment, and miscellaneous items.

ACE Report Considerations

  • An ACE report is a quick summary. Be precise, but keep it brief. Only include what is needed, nothing else.
  • Be as specific with your report as possible; do not give vague, ambiguous answers. Your element leader should understand exactly what you need from the report without needing to ask for clarification. If you don’t know exactly how many of something you’re missing, such as bandages, give an idea of how low you are on it.
  • Only two colors may be used in an ACE report at a Fireteam level: Green and Black.
    • Saying you’re Green on something means it does not require any further attention. For Ammo and Equipment, this means you do not require a resupply for it. For Casualty, this means you do not require any medical attention. If all components are green, you can report, “All green.”
    • Saying you’re Black in something means you are completely out of it. For example, you may say that you’re black on STANAG, black on frag grenades, or black on AT if you’ve either expended your disposable launcher. Note that this color does not apply to the Casualty component.

Example ACE reports given to a Fireteam Leader:

> Rifleman: Need three STANAGs and two frag grenadesgreen on medicalgreen on equipment.

> Automatic Rifleman: Two 5.56mm boxes usedbleeding on my leg, have lost a lot of blood, need multiple stitcheslow on bandages and painkillers.”

> CLS: “All green.”

> Light AT: Green on ammo, large amount of blood lost, left arm broken and needs a stitchblack on AT, used a lot of QuikClots and one splint.”
