--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationThe Siege of Virojoki continues as the Royal Marines regroup and push further into the urban area. Canadian forces continue to hit Defence Line Queen, drawing resources from the centre of the town and thinning out the enemy resistance for British forces to advance.
Friendly Forces
Two Royal Marine infantry platoons supported by light vehicles.
Supporting Assets
Canadian forces continue their assault on defence line Queen in AO Silver.
Enemy Forces
Russian regular infantry supported by light and heavy armour, and rotary-wing assets from the nearby airfield.
Mission
TaskingSimply, the aim of this operation is to continue the Siege of Virojoki Several key positions have been identified and are detailed below. Enemy positions will be scattered through the city overwatching strong lanes of fire and at checkpoints. The enemy will very likely attempt counter-attacks and try disrupting our push to secure our hold over the town. Although guerrilla-style warfare is not expected, there is precedent for the enemy leaving behind traps in vacated positions. The three bridges in the heart of Virojoki- Iso, Viro and Tiny- are the main crossing positions, but there may be fording opportunities along the river. As with the first part of the siege, civilians will be present and taking cover in their houses in various positions around the town. A structure with several dead civilians was identified from last mission during structure sweeping. Any steps that may be taken to avoid such situations must be taken. To further this end, logistics will be directed to create safe points that are clearly marked out for civilians to take cover in, and a safe route out of the town for civilians/ logistics movement.
