Situation
Background InformationIt is 0500hrs, the morning after allied capture of Henderson Airfield, smoke and fire rages across the airstrip. Easy Company are holed up in the defenses and the Japanese, cut off from their Naval units and wounded from the heavy fighting have withdrawn back into the jungle. Expecting a counter-offensive, the USMC digs in, In the midst of a heavy thunderstorm and ready to deal the final blow to rout the Japanese forces back to the coast and lay claim against Guadalcanal.
Friendly Forces
1x Easy Platoon, Light Infantry 1x Able Support 1x Lightning Fighter Squadron
Supporting Assets
The US 8th Fleet and Carrier Group are moving east to support, the Armoured Divisions are moving south and additional infantry platoons are moving towards Henderson Field and are expected to arrive within the next few hours, but have been slowed due to heavy rain.
Enemy Forces
The Imperial Japanese Army are attempting to withdraw to Lunga Point, we believe they will try to regroup and counter attack or retreat to fight another day. Thousands are expected to die from battlefield injuries but many still remain willing to fight and estimates of numbers are difficult due to terrain. We expect a concentrated effort to engage us followed by a withdrawal once we have the upper hand.
Mission
TaskingRout IJA forces back to Lunga Point and prevent them from regrouping.
End-state
Return to Henderson Field, or to the USS Liberty.
Execution
Commander's IntentThe purpose of this mission is to continue the momentum of the assault on Henderson Airfield by attacking the remaining enemy positions as they withdraw and routing any remaining forces to the north east encircling any survivors to prevent further attacks on allied positions.
