--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---

Situation

Background Information
It is 0500hrs, the morning after allied capture of Henderson Airfield, smoke and fire rages across the airstrip. Easy Company are holed up in the defenses and the Japanese, cut off from their Naval units and wounded from the heavy fighting have withdrawn back into the jungle. Expecting a counter-offensive, the USMC digs in, In the midst of a heavy thunderstorm and ready to deal the final blow to rout the Japanese forces back to the coast and lay claim against Guadalcanal.

Friendly Forces
1x Easy Platoon, Light Infantry 1x Able Support 1x Lightning Fighter Squadron

Supporting Assets
The US 8th Fleet and Carrier Group are moving east to support, the Armoured Divisions are moving south and additional infantry platoons are moving towards Henderson Field and are expected to arrive within the next few hours, but have been slowed due to heavy rain.

Enemy Forces
The Imperial Japanese Army are attempting to withdraw to Lunga Point, we believe they will try to regroup and counter attack or retreat to fight another day. Thousands are expected to die from battlefield injuries but many still remain willing to fight and estimates of numbers are difficult due to terrain. We expect a concentrated effort to engage us followed by a withdrawal once we have the upper hand.

Mission

Tasking
Rout IJA forces back to Lunga Point and prevent them from regrouping.

End-state
Return to Henderson Field, or to the USS Liberty.

Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this mission is to continue the momentum of the assault on Henderson Airfield by attacking the remaining enemy positions as they withdraw and routing any remaining forces to the north east encircling any survivors to prevent further attacks on allied positions.

Tasks and Sequencing
EASY 9, 1 and 3 are still garrisoned at Henderson Airfield, EASY 2 is posted at the western bridge watch. ABLE and LIGHTNING are based at Henderson Airfields damaged hangars and must first repair damage to aircraft and vehicles caused in the battle and overnight. OBJ A - Recover vehicles and assets from damage and prepare to continue our advance OBJ B - Protect Henderson Airfield from further attack OBJ C - Targets Mike 1-3 as should be destroyed by LIGHTNING when visibility allows OBJ D - Pursue withdrawing IJA forces to Lunga Point, destroying any equipment on route Squad Leaders will issue instructions prior to step-off.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply
Logistics will be provided from Henderson Airfield by ABLE 4 via trucks, this includes vehicle repair, refuelling, rearming and explosive ordinance support as required. Other duties may be required of ABLE 4 to support the defence of Henderson Field. EASY 3 has attached a Half-track, permitting self-sustainment for ammunition.

Medical
Medical support will primarily be provided at the Battle Aid Station at Henderson Field, however Jeeps have been retrofitted with stretchers to allow ABLE 4-2 the ability to transport rapidly battlefield casualties for treatment where required.

Rules of Engagement
In accordance with SOP

Fire Support Plan
In accordance with SOP

Close Air Support
Lightning Squadron, tasked with the CAP defence of Henderson Field are available for tasking where required, secondary to their primary mission.

Considerations
For this deployment, the Platoon Leader, Foward Air Controller, Logistics Chief and MERT Officer are the only personnel who carry radios, in addition to the Radio Operators. This means in the Infantry Squad, there is only one radio carrying individual - this means communication and operational distance will be key to our success.
