Situation

Background Information
With both the US and UK Forces steadily pushing the soviet army back, and as a result of encircling a large soviet garrison in Molzen, the soviets are now on the move to lift the siege and once again link up the garrison with their lines. Having the bulk of their forces deployed on the frontline itself, the rear is guarded by mostly fresh out of basic training troops, engineers and other rear echelon elements and whilst being relatively well supplied, they ultimately will not last a big prolonged assault.

Friendly Forces
ANVIL PLATOON accompanied by: Light Mortar element, Heavy Machine Gun Team, M2 Support Engineers equipped with fortifying materials and mines to aid in defenses, Combat Medical Team.

Supporting Assets
There no civilians in the area of operations. No other friendly forces available

Enemy Forces
Mechanized infantry with light armor support.

Mission

Tasking
Primary objective: - To hold the defensive lines and prevent the Soviets from breaking through the friendly lines to lift the siege at Molzen.

End-state
Friendly forces held the line.

Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this missions is to prevent Soviet forces from relieving their besieged forces in Molzen via a counter assault through the villages of Masendorf, Riestedt, and Woltersburg/Pieperhofen. ANVIL platoon has been tasked to garrison the towns of Woltersburg/Pieperhofen, which intel suggests is the most likely route of enemy assault.

Tasks and Sequencing
ANVIL will be station at TEMP FOB SPEAR, with additional ammunition stored at TEMP FOB HAMMER. From there ANVIL will move to secure DEFENSE LINE 1 on the MSR from Pieperhofen. CASTLE will begin construction of fortifications at DEFENSE LINE 1, and on completion, will move to build fall back defenses on DEFENSE LINE 2. ANVIL will look to hold DEFENSE LINE 1 as long as possible to allow CASTLE to construct as many fortifications as possible on each defensive line in succession. Upon instruction, ANVIL will retreat back, conducting a Platoon successive bound rearwards, beginning with ANVIL 3 to the next defensive line. NOTE Soviet special forces are in the area and are expected to try and disrupt our defensive operations. Sightings of/contact with these special forces should be reported immediately. At DEFENSE LINE 4, CASTLE will make preparations to evacuate the platoon in trucks across the western river if needed. Upon contact, we are expecting armoured reinforcements to assist wherever the fighting is thickest, and therefore, should a retreat be necessary, we will retreat across the river, link up with armoured reinforcements, and re-take Woltersburg/Pieperhofen.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply
CASTLE tasked with supplying the platoon and providing defensive positions for the platoon to retreat to using M51 5-ton 6x6 trucks

Medical
CCP's will exist in a safe area near to the current defensive line, established by GUARDIAN. who will use an ambulance to transport injured friendlies to and from the CCP.

Rules of Engagement
PoW's will be passed to the Platoon Sergeant for transport to the rear and interrogation.

Fire Support Plan
Artillery provided by ANVIL 7 will provide IDF and illumination to Fire Missions to be designated in briefing.
