--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---

Situation

Background Information
Through the sabotage by a German-Soviet collaborator, hostile forces have broken the encirclement of Molzen. It is now presumed reinforced. For the main effort, an armoured advance is authorised to break through a newly fortified Masendorf and capture Molzen once and for all. Two enemy commanders of the Soviet efforts in and around the Molzen pocket are expected to be in Molzen at the time of assault. However, hardly any civilians are left, as they were evacuated or fled themselves given a fight in the area has been inevitable.

Friendly Forces
United States Army Combined Arms Team [1x] Rifle Platoon [1x] Armoured Platoon of [3x] M1 Abrams, MBT and [1x] M163 Vulcan, SPAAG [1x] Sustainment Section [2x] Combat Medical Team [1x] M252 Mortar Section, M113-mobile

Supporting Assets
None expected.

Enemy Forces
Soviet Armed Forces in the area are entrenched and reinforced. Molzen is occupied by a combined arms, armoured and mechanised, company-sized garrison. Mechanised and armoured reinforcements are funnelling into the Molzen pocket through Masendorf via Stocken. Forward infantry positions in Ripdorf and Heitbrack are suspected motorised and feasible as QRF.

Mission

Tasking
Re-establish the front line along the 06 northing.

Primary Objectives

  • Secure Molzen, OBJ Evelyn,
  • Secure Masendorf, OBJ LINDSEY,
  • Advance to RV SPRINGFIELD

Secondary Objectives

  • Capture Soviet commanders of the Molzen and Masendorf garrisons,
  • Recover intelligence as to further Soviet developments,
  • Secure Stocken, OBJ MIRANDA

End-state
The desired critically successful end-state will occur as soon as RV Springfield is secured and held from possible counter-attack. An acceptable successful end-state is achieved upon the retaking of OBJ LINDSEY and all elements of the main effort in position at RV SEATTLE.

Execution

Commander's Intent
The mission's intent is to decisively engage Soviet combined arms forces with the aim of defeating them in detail from Molzen to Masendorf, re-establishing the front line and facilitating future breaching operations.

Tasks and Sequencing

Assembly

All elements assemble and prepare to depart from FOB Javwel in full combat capacity in a northwest direction towards PLD House. Papa organises troop transport for Sierra platoon for the initial movement. Victor elements conduct final checks with Sierra 8. Yankee and Sierra 6 coordinate as to their fire control measures throughout the mission, but in particular for the initial assault for timely employment of mortars. TRP, methods of engagement and control in OBJ Evelyn shall be pre-designated based on intel. Combat teams depart FOB Javwel in order: Victor 1 - Victor 9 - Sierra/Papa - Hotel - Yankee - Victor 3 - Victor 2

PLD HOUSE

From PLD House, Sierra and Victor each deploy in a wedge formation to assault OBJ Evelyn. Yankee, Papa, Hotel quickly establish a fires position and RV at the PLD, west of Woltersburg and away from civilian infrastructure. The assault begins with the correct employment of continuous smoke cover on enemy positions by Yankee. The advance must not stop until the first enemy position is secured. Terrain depending, Sierra and Victor coordinate manoeuvres along the axis of advance, platoon bounding under fire as terrain cover presents. Sierra must ensure continuous movement: Leaders are advised to bound double-time and in short bursts. Victor's initial limit of advance is 500 m short of either the closest enemy position or Point Brick, until RV Salem and adjoining sectors are secured. OBJ Evelyn is considered accomplished with the complete defeat or rout of hostile forces in the town sector.

PL 2

Following the complete capture of OBJ Evelyn, combat teams reconsolidate and reorganise at RV Salem for an assault on OBJ LINDSEY. Sierra broadly follows the stream Wipperau to their south, advancing under fire and Yankee smoke cover as terrain presents. Victor screens the northern approach with an initial limit of advance of the last road bound north-south, 500 m short of POINT PEG. Sierra's initial objective is the securing of RV Seattle. Upon completion, Victor can advance to screen towards Point Nail, providing cover from reinforcements during CQB. OBJ Lindsey is considered complete with the complete routing of hostile forces beyond PL3 or their defeat in detail.

PL 3

After reconsolidation at RV Seattle, combat teams prepare to assault and secure RV Springfield: previously a hostile entrenched position now likely reinforced. Crossing Point Nail, Sierra and Victor broadly follow the stream on their north on the assault.

PL 4

Following the complete capture of RV Springfield, all units prepare for the final assault on OBJ Miranda as time and manpower permit. In the event of an amassed counter-attack or time pressure, PL 4 becomes the Limit of Advance for all units.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply
All units cross the PLD at full capacity. Resupplies will be conducted as needed, with pre-scheduled reconsolidation at the three rally points: RV Salem, RV Seattle, RV Springfield. Vehicle recovery and repair is the responsibility of Papa.

Fire Support Plan
Fire support is available through M252 mortars, mobile in M113, call sign Yankee. Yankee's chief responsibility during the advance is continuous smoke cover on hostile positions. Suppression of hostile entrenched positions and further missions will be at the discretion of Sierra 6. Requests for fire support must be radioed up to Sierra 9 in a timely fashion to ensure adequate reaction to contact.
