--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationWith seizure of the POW camp and liberation of the 1st crew member, followed by a patrol through the jungle to locate and destroy enemy caches before rescuing the 2nd crew member from Bin Lao Swamp, we are hoping to act out on the intel found in the previous 2 missions to locate and rescue the final of the 3 crew members that went down with the MEDIVAC bird, while looking to deal a decisive strike against VC, NVA and Pathet Lao forces in the area to cripple their logistical capability and slow down the influx of supplies down the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Friendly Forces
Conducting the operation is an Air Cavalry platoon from the 1st Cavalry Division. Consisting of 2 squads, they are equipped with means of combating both infantry and armor threats in the area, as well as communicating with supporting air assets that will accompany them. One of those assets is the CH-47 Chinook that is tasked with infil and exfil duties as well as logistical support from main base should it be required. The other, however, is an asset graciously delegated to us by the 20th Special Operations Squadron, also familiar as "The Green Hornets". They are in charge of close air support with their USAF modified UH-1P "Hornet" that has 2 M134 Miniguns and a mixed payload of Willy Pete and 17 pounder Hydras.
Supporting Assets
While we have no other friendly assets directly assisting us in the area, we are still looking for at least 1 POW from the crashed helicopter. As such, caution is advised and PID should be strictly adhered to AT ALL TIMES. For ease of recognition, the countersign will be challenged with the code word "ISHMAEL" and met with a password response of "AHAB", as that was given to us by the 2 rescued POWs that they would use in the field and is most likely the active standing order for the 3rd member we are looking for still.
Enemy Forces
In response to our aggression and movement earlier in the day, the enemy has began reinforcing the 2 garrisons they have in the area located around Base Area 316, which are used as a main logistical hub by the NVA, VC and Pathet Lao forces to bolster their troops along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, as well as being used as training camps for the locals before being moved out to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Expect heavy resistance and light armor presence.
Mission
TaskingAs such, it is your mission to secure both of those compounds, eliminate any and all enemy threats in an effort to cripple their presence, and hopefully take the burden of our boys fighting in Vietnam by slowing down the flow of supplies to the frontline. Other than that, you are to keep an eye out for any POW detainment facilities or intel that might narrow down where our 3rd missing soldier is.
End-state
Once all objectives have been accomplished, you will ENDEX in the field or back in base depending on the amount of infrastructure damage caused and any remaining enemy presence in the area.
