Situation
Background InformationIn the early morning between 03:37 AM and 03:54 AM Hill 861, 881S and 881N sent out reports of probing attacks and IDF. Enemy radio chatter is all over the place and contact with Hill 881N has been lost at approx. 04:25 AM. 5th Infantry Division together with supporting elements of 11th Armored are mobilized to support forward bases. Mission
Tasking- DEFEND Hill 861 from enemy attack - Push through and make contact with hill 881 - Hold position until further relief forces can be mobilized - Break enemy forces and push them past gridline 110. - DESTROY enemy strongpoints where possible.
End-state
Our unit will strive to attain the following end state: Hill 861 defended, contact reestablished with Hill 881N, enemy pushed past gridline 110, and enemy strongpoints destroyed. This should result in the consolidation of our control over the hilltops and our preparation for ending operations at the nearest base or FOB, while maintaining the integrity and readiness of our forces.
Execution
Commander's IntentDefend Hill 861 and re-establish contact with Hill 881N using all available resources and capabilities. Hold positions until relief forces arrive, push enemy forces beyond gridline 110, and destroy enemy strongpoints where possible. Ultimate objective: Repel enemy, solidify control, and prepare for endex at nearest base or FOB.
Tasks and Sequencing
Our mission will be conducted in three phases, additional instructions will be issued as verbal orders: PHASE 1: Defense of Hill 861 - Our mechanized infantry will assume defensive positions to repel the enemy attack. Simultaneously, artillery assets will provide suppressive fire. Air assets, including our CH-47A helicopters, will perform surveillance, logistical support, and deliver close air support if necessary. PHASE 2: Re-establish Contact with Hill 881N - A combined force of our mechanized infantry and armored units will break through the enemy lines. The main effort will involve infantry with tank support, while the secondary effort will be to flank the enemy using our armored units. The goal is to make contact with Hill 881N, ascertain the situation, and reinforce our troops if needed. PHASE 3: Push past Gridline 110 and Destroy Enemy Strongpoints - Once contact is reestablished and our defensive position is secure, we will push beyond gridline 110. MBTs will lead, supported by infantry in M113 APCs. The objective is to destroy enemy strongpoints and push them out of our operational area. Tasking: - Mechanized Infantry: Hold Hill 861, break through to Hill 881N, and secure perimeter. - Armored Units: Support infantry, flank enemy, and spearhead advance beyond gridline 110. - Artillery Units: Provide suppressive fire and destroy enemy strongpoints. - Air Units: Conduct surveillance, close air support, and logistical duties.
Administration/Logistics
ResupplyAirborne logistics elements will position re supply by traversing difficult terrain and deploying last mile supplies using effective ground based delivery systems, in coordination with the Platoon Sergeant and Logistics Chief.
Medical
The first port of call for battlefield casualties shall be the Platoon Medics ambulance. In the event of a serious MCI, a medical evacuation may be ordered by air, utilising support assets.

Fire Support Plan
Mortar support is embedded in the platoon by way of Mortar M113 units. Additional fire support will be provided from nearby bases in the form of artillery, coordinated by the Platoons Forward Observer.
Close Air Support
Close Air Support may be engaged or requested by the Platoon Leader, as assets are in the area of operations and should it be required, able to provide bombing runs on enemy positions.
