Enemy Forces
Expected IS presence consisting of mainly infantry units, occasional technicals and lightly armoured vehicles. MBTs are unlikely as they have been destroyed in previous operations. IS cave systems are present in the AO as well.
Mission
TaskingPush north to eliminate the last major IS held area before the final attack on the IS Capital in the region, Kalae Noowi. Clear enemy presence, remove IEDs from major roads and secure the encirclement.
End-state
Mission Success: IS forces routed, Kalae Noowi encircled. Mission Failure: Trident platoon repelled.
Execution
Commander's IntentIntent of the platoon is to act as a clearing force moving Northwards across our AO. IS presence is expected in towns, lightly through Phase 1 but more heavily occupied in Phase 2 onwards. Several FOBs need to be cleared out to secure the valley.
Tasks and Sequencing
Phase 0 will consist of initial movement. Convoy order will be ANVIL ; TRIDENT 1 ; TRIDENT 9 ; TRIDENT 2 ; ROOK ; ARCLIGHT ; TRIDENT 3 Phase 1 continues movement to PL WP1 if not interrupted by enemy action. From here, TRIDENT 1 moves N/W in search of cave complexes spread across the terrain on and South of the mountain ridge at Hill 749. During Northward movement, Trident 1 and 2 to stay parallel. Trident 3 to follow using any useful OP. Anvil to clear the road primarily and help any other threats. Phase 2 consists of valley clearance with marked sectors. Sectors to be assigned case-by-case but with general intention of keeping Trident 1 West and Trident 2 East. We will try to maintain good separation for security. Trident 3 will maintain OP on best available position, likely to be on the ridge South of the valley. Phase 3 will be decided on recon in-field. Positions may not need full clearance, and will be based on available time.
