--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationFollowing our recent capture of COP Tokyo using PBRs, command wants us to push further north east, to capture a recently lost outpost called Miami, this Outpost was completely overrun with only two people known to survive out of the 75 men holding it. NVA & Vietcong forces used a mixture of boats, artillery and manpower to take this outpost. Our tasking today is to recapture this outpost and to hold it from any possible counter attacks. Outpost Miami is imperative to our operations on the rivers as it holds a key lagoon like area through which many rivers pass. Command wants this base recaptured quickly so that normal river patrols can continue in the area.
Friendly Forces
1x Platoon, 1x infantry squad with 2, 6 man fireteams PBR Section 2x Huey Gunships
Enemy Forces
Significant Guerrilla forces and possible light vehicles.
Mission
TaskingToday, you are tasked with pushing north from COP Tokyo, move along the river and move east towards a recently lost outpost called Miami. North of COP Tokyo is not friendly territory, you will need to be expecting significant contact from NVA & VC Forces who are known to be in the area.
End-state
Outpost Miami is secured.
Execution
Commander's IntentUNITAF will conduct a PBR patrol up the river toward Outpost Miami, following the main river North then East before moving to capture Outpost Miami.
Tasks and Sequencing
The PBR patrol route will take us North and then East toward Outpost Miami. The majority of the route's contact will be dependent on enemy actions and any presence of civilians. Upon arriving at the opening to the large waterway in which Outpost Miami is situated, Fox will deploy infantry and push along land to the Outpost, receiving heavy fire support from Papa. Along the route, it is expected that we will come under ambush at some point, and find hostile garrisons in settlements or military installations. Actions on for ambush is to direct overwhelming firepower from the PBRs and mounted infantry to neutralise the threat and discourage further attack. If land needs clearing, PBRs will deploy infantry on the banks of the river and they will conduct a short raid to the enemy position. Heavy fire support from Hueys is also available and will be used in place of risk of life where possible.
