Company Command Ranks

The company is the largest operational unit in play, it can support 40-126 men at any one time with a target size of 70. It's headed up by a Captain or Major supported by a First Sergeant or Company Sergeant Major. Administratively the Company holds up to 2-3 Platoons.




SGM
Sergeant Major (SGM)

The Company Sergeant Major is the most senior non-commissioned officer in a company sized unit; one of the largest units in the task force. Responsible for the NCO support channel, the CSM supports the Company Commander as his assistant with the administration of the Company, including but not limited to the selection, training and development of the Company NCOs and Officers.

In addition, the CSM is a vital leader who steps in when the Company Commander is absent, supporting the Companys' Troop and Section Commanders in the execution of their duties. The CSM reports directly to the Company Commander, and in the event of his absence, to the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer.

Capt
Captain (Capt)

As the Commanding Officer of a Company, a Captain commands a company-sized unit made up of 2-3 troops. As Company Commander, a Captain trains, develops and supports the companies junior officers and NCOs. With the support of their Company Sergeant a Captain will monitor the performance of the Troops in the Company, and work with the Company Officers and NCOs to ensure the health and vitality of the unit, along and in line with the aims of Command.

A Captain will typically be promoted to Major after a suitable time of service, performance and good conduct in the previous grade.

Officers are responsible for ensuring that UNITAF continues to be a healthy engaging and exciting. They have full responsibility for the leadership and smooth running of their units and are responsible for a large number of personnel.

Major (Maj)

A Major is the Commanding Officer of a Company Sized Unit and as such his roles and responsibilities are much like that of the Captain. Majors are typically experienced or seasoned Company Commanders and have the same responsibilities as a Captain.

Officers are responsible for ensuring that UNITAF continues to be a healthy, engaging and exciting. They have full responsibility for the leadership and smooth running of their units and are responsible for a large number of personnel.
