I have no opinion on this item - it is supported by multiple contributors in the consultation therefore approving with conditions raised by J6 that any change must comply with global restrictions on DAGR, GPS, BFT, Rangefinders per FM/BP-386 - if a special exception is needed this should be raised in it's own merit. Will leave it up to J6 to interpret.
Implemented - March 23, 2026
This item is concluded. It has been actioned, and we’re not expecting further updates. Thanks for the input.

Proposed Change

New Policy block for Loadout Role Specific Policies :

Role Specific : Fire SupportAll fire support roles require the following equipment :Map, Compass, Artillery Rangetable, Ace Map Tool, Ace Plotting Board, Entrenching Tool, Binoculars or Rangefinder equipment

All Mortarman requires the following equipment :Backpack with Ace's CSW 82mm rounds, at a minimum 1x HE Round and 1x Smoke Round

Mortarman (Gunner) is to be assigned the Ace CSW Tube appropriate for the faction (default : M252 Tube Bag)Mortarman (Assistant) is to be assigned the Ace CSW Mortar Baseplate

Fire Support Chief and Mortar/Artillery Section Leaders requires in addition :DAGR or microDAGR, Vector 21, Long Range Radio capability, BFT for Era 3 and 4

Other blocks describing specific Entrenching tool, BFT, Radio and GPS to reflect the information above

Reasoning

New Fire support area and roles were introduced without accompanying changes to loadout policy, creating those policies ensures the work of the FMDG is applied to doctrine.

Impact

Have the guidance needed to have consistent loadouts and equipment needed to fill the roles.

Update on J6 Recommendation for clarity as requested by CC: No issues from J6 however the provision of DAGR, GPS, BFT, Rangefinders etc must comply with https://unitedtaskforce.net/handbook/block/386/eras-and-t... J5 will take lead on permitted items per era and which equipment is used.

@LtCol James sorry, decision on the mortar part? I assume just say a faction appropriate Crew Served Mortar.

J6 Policy Staff Would this depend on completion of RM/662 Objective: FMDG: Review of Loadout Blocks before addition to FM?

The review will be a tidy up more than any changes made. I'll find a way of implementing the loadouts change in the short term
J6 recommendation:
Approve with changes. J5 has discretion on what mortar to issue, BFT/GPS issuance to be consistent with faction era restrictions, no rangefinder.

J7NCOIC agrees with these points and thinks Jenkins has a good point to make sure there is variation in faction as long as the intend suggested is there

Loadout requirements for the new roles look acceptable. I'd suggest allowing for different types of mortar calibres as well, not just 82mm, this will allow for some variation between factions especially when it comes to historical and cold war period.
