After discussion with Personnel and Training Command, the Officers have agreed to make an important adjustment to the weighting system used to determine skill proficiency levels in the Future Training System (FTS). This change is designed to better align with our goals for recruit progression and the unit’s overall development, while maintaining high-quality standards.
Quick Recap of Instructor Weighting: Each instructor’s evaluation carries a specific weight based on their role, i.e. the more senior the instructor, the more their opinion matters:
What’s Changing? Previously, the minimum weights required to achieve proficiency levels were (2-2-4-6) detailed below:
This system, while thorough, does slow down early progression, as seen especially across the 32 core infantry skills.
Thereforce we have changed this to 1-1-3-6, which:
This adjustment reflects our expectation that the Future Training System (FTS) for Core Infantry will lead to faster progression for active recruits compared to the Legacy Training System (LTS). However, progression under FTS is currently not meeting these expectations, prompting this change. However, do note this change applies to all Combat Areas, not just Core Infantry.
What to expect as a result of this update:
Immediate Changes to Progression:
Core Infantry Tier Requirements:
Intake Specific:
Why This Matters: We’re currently seeing plenty of outstanding Recruits joining the unit, and this update is designed to:
This update is part of an ongoing effort to balance quality with progression.
Important Reminder: While the minimum weight defines the threshold to achieve a specific skill at any level, ultimate decisions are still based on the majority of instructor opinions. If the majority of instructor evaluations agree that a lower level is more appropriate, the rating will reflect that consensus, regardless of this change. The updated system is purely a guideline to streamline progression, not a guarantee.
Please feel free to share your feedback over Discord - your input helps us continue improving the system for everyone. We will monitor the impact of this change closely, and further balancing may be required in either direction.
