Change to Intake Instructors

Hello,

I am writing today to inform y’all of a change to how Intakes are run. As this is a topic that does not directly affect most members, I will give a brief background:

Intakes are currently organized by J1 and run by the Core Infantry training team, who graciously volunteer to run these on top of their existing duties.

However, this causes friction in several ways:

• Core Infantry contributors have to split their time between developing and training their combat area with running the Intakes, which typically run on a biweekly schedule. This increases their workload unnecessarily.
• This added requirement may discourage potential Core Infantry contributors from joining the training team.
• This prevents members who want to contribute to intakes from doing so without joining the core infantry team.

As such, we have decided to detach the intake staffing from Core Infantry. It is expected that all members of the unit understand the basics taught in the intakes, and as such, there is no reason that they need be tied to Core Infantry.

For the immediate future, we are opening up intake instructor slots to all current training team instructors, regardless of area.

However, that is not all. The desired end-state of this change is to make a dedicated Intake Instructor role which operates closer to J1 than J7, with access to the candidate channels and other pre-intake training opportunities such as video and text guides available to the candidates.

This implementation will take place alongside a wider rework of the intake system with the upcoming reset, as the structural changes thereof will necessarily affect how this role will function.
