--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationThe Platoon's camp has been taken by a surprise attack from Soviet forces whilst we were on patrol, now we have no base to go back to. After waiting two days without being able to get in communication or regroup with other forces, we will have to push out from our designated fallback point towards other possible friendly forces. Maybe we'll be able to regroup and know how big of a mess we have fallen into. Expected Level of Combat : ☆☆ Expected Level of RP: ☆ Expected Difficulty: ☆☆☆ Three-star rating: ☆ little to none expected ☆☆ decent amount expected ☆☆☆ Heavy emphasis / main focus of Operation
Friendly Forces
Remnants of the patrols and those that successfully extracted during the attack have regrouped. Due to leadership losses, a squad GEORGE has been organised from those fit to fight. A small team BUNKER will remain in position to continue tending to the wounded and deceased.
Supporting Assets
No other surviving friendly elements known in the area, assumed eliminated or captured. Friendly bases marked in the area, unknown of their status and if still operational. Even if we find no friendlies, it's our next best chance at getting supplies if needed.
Enemy Forces
Soviet forces, Motorised with some Mechanised support, size unknown but we expect a large force has infiltrated the AO.
Mission
TaskingEstablish communication with the Chain of Command. Disrupt Soviet operation in the area. Regroup with any friendly element still operational in the area.
End-state
If unable to continue the fight due to casualties, you are authorised to surrender to the enemy to ensure treatment of the wounded.
Execution
Commander's IntentThe objectives of this mission are: (1) Make contact with friendly forces; (2) Assist with any objectives or taskings of friendly forces; (3) Disrupt OPFOR manoeuvres;
Tasks and Sequencing
PHASE 0 GEORGE 1 will ensure they have the equipment reasonably required for the upcoming tasking and form up for briefing at Regroup Alpha. PHASE 1 GEORGE 1 will proceed North to a last known friendly signal element position. Since the status of that position is unknown at this time, as we approach we will orientate from a standard to cautious posture (this MAY involve e.g. separating and providing greater coverage of the southern part on the base on approach). The end-state of PHASE 1 will be: (1) Last-known location of signal element will be secured; (2) Equipment will be searched and checked for means of contact with friendly elements; (3) Intel will have been searched for; and (4) We will be in a posture in preparation for PHASE 2 PHASE 2 GEORGE 1 will observe the area to the north of their position and formulate next steps. This action will be paired with GEORGE 1-0 attempting to make contact with friendly elements. The end state of PHASE 2 will be: (1) GEORGE 1 will have maximised their understanding and awareness of the situation to their north; (2) GEORGE 1-0 will have made contact with friendly elements (3) Next-steps in respect of PHASE 3 will have been established PHASE 3 GIVEN the nature of the operation, PHASE 3 is subject to change. The following is a rough indication of the Objectives of PHASE 3: GEORGE 1 will attempt to support any friendly movement, defence of or withdrawal from POI APRICOT. To do this, GEORGE 1 will proceed to SP BAKEWELL, SP CHELTENHAM and SP DODGER and mine the areas marked RED; preventing vehicles from proceeding through and to POI APRICOT. Intent will be to hold at any of the SP positions with a view to disrupt enemy movement. Exact position will be subject to GEORGE 1-0, GEORGE 1-1 and GEORGE 1-2's discretion. Following adequate disruption, or if the situation becomes untenable, withdrawal or assault into POI APRICOT. The ideal end-state of PHASE 3 is as follows: (1) POI APRICOT is in friendly hands; and/or (2) GEORGE 1 has succeeded in disrupting OPFOR movements towards POI APRICOT allowing for friendly withdrawal; and/or (3) GEORGE 1 has successfully regrouped with friendly forces, either within or outside of POI APRICOT. AS STATED ABOVE it will not be a mission failure if we must surrender to enemy forces to ensure treatment of the wounded and avoid decimation of the element.
Administration/Logistics
ResupplyALL CALLSIGNS will cross the LD fully loaded according to the units SOP. These supplies will come from the staging area. This basic load is expected to sustain the team throughout the mission, without support. HOWEVER, given the situation LAT are authorised to procure enemy equipment to replenish spent tubes. Additionally, once other forms are equipment are used FTLs can authorise procurement of enemy weapons. FTLs should, however, make note of the consequences in terms of sharing ammunition within the team.
