--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---

Situation

Background Information
To ensure the security of the Nadbór Power Plant, that is supplying energy to the entire area, as well as slowing down enemy advancements from the south, a platoon moves to secure a contested military depot, then set up defences against Russian advances just south of Gieraltów.

Friendly Forces
[1X] Platoon HQ, Callsign Guardian [2X] Rifle Squads

Supporting Assets
There are no friendly units operating within vicinity of the AO. The 23 Silesian Artillery Regiment [JW 1145] in Kryśnik (callsign Hammer) is capable of providing rocket artillery strike on request by the Field Leader. In case of extremely difficult situation, the troops can be supported and extracted with the help of the 6th Airborne Brigade [JW 2250] stationed in Lembork (callsign Dragonfly).

Enemy Forces
The area is occupied by a brigade of Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) - Lightweight infantry. There is a possibility of encountering Spetsnaz (VSN) forces in the forested area. A quick reaction force would most likely consist of motor rifle troops (MSV), they usually are equipped with IFVs, APCs and armed patrol cars.

Mission

Tasking
Guardian Platoon is tasked with limiting enemy advancements by securing the Military Depot, laying mines on the various roads leading from the south, and digging into defensive positions inside the town of Gieraltów.

End-state
The roads leading to Gieraltów are mined up, the Military Depot is secured, and Gieraltów is int the defensible state.

Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this operation is to delay the enemy from gaining strategic terrain in the direction of Nadbór Power Plant. In order to fulfil our purpose, GUARDIAN will complete three objectives: 1) Secure Military Depot 2) Interdict MSV movement towards Gieraltów 3) Delay VDV assault on Gieraltów CRUCIAL TO MISSION SUCCESS IS THE COMPLETION OF OBJECTIVE 2 AND 3. IF EITHER FAILS, THIS MISSION CANNOT BE CONSIDERED A SUCCESS. SHOULD GIERALTÓW FAIL, IT WILL ENDANGER THE REGION'S ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE DEFENSIVE INTEGRITY OF THE NORTHEAST. FAILURE TO DELAY THE ASSAULT ON GIERALTÓW WILL BE CONSIDERED A STRATEGIC FAILURE.

Tasks and Sequencing
(For an overview of the mission on a map, refer to the map tab on the left-hand side) PHASE 0 GUARDIAN assembles in Wrzeszcz. If no substantial contact has been made, GUARDIAN 2 will move cautiously to OP CASTLE IOT reconnoitre ahead, falling back to OP FORT once contact has been made. PHASE COMPLETE ONCE OP FORT HAS BEEN OCCUP. PHASE 5 ROE: GREEN TYPE: DEFENSIVE FALLBACK ORDER: DL1 --> DL2 --> DL3 --> DL4 --> RLY URANUS ALL CALLSIGNS will delay VDV advancement by assuming defensive positions at DL1. Once GUARDIAN has sustained significant contact but is yet to be overwhelmed, the platoon will orchestrate a defensive withdrawal towards DL2. Whilst falling back, the platoon will engage in successive bounding as far as is possible. Once at DL2, the platoon establishes new defensive positions covering assigned directions. This continues until DL4 is reached, or Gieraltów becomes indefensible and GUARDIAN requires further extraction from the AO.
