Mission

Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this mission is to defend the town of Ratzlingen against an impending Soviet attack. After the Soviet frontline in the South collapsed at the hands of the Bundeswehr, Soviet reinforcements have been brought into the region and a renewed offensive is underway in an attempt to stabilize the frontline and keep NATO forces away from the city of Rosche.

Tasks and Sequencing
STAGING: ALL CALLSIGNS WILL CARRY OUT FINAL EQUIPMENT AND READINESS CHECKS AND THEN ASSEMBLE AT RP-0 FOR BRIEFING. PHASE 1: Easy company's engineering units have constructed a vast array of infantry and vehicle fighting positions with static weapon emplacements around Ratzlingen, and have also constructed anti-personnel and anti-tank minefields along the roads and woodlands covering the Eastern flank as shown. These minefields have been clearly marked with signage and barbed wire. EASY 1 will depart from the rally point and begin occupying fighting positions at A1, and is tasked with defending the Eastern approach as well as the ingress route MSR TRAGEN. EASY 2 will depart from the rally point and begin occupying fighting positions at B1, and is tasked with defending the South-Eastern approach as well as the ASR leading into Ratzlingen. Secondary defensive positions have been constructed at A2 and B2 in the event the primary lines are unable to held effectively. Both squads may also construct their own fighting positions if required. Static emplacements have been setup at each defensive position and may be crewed by members of each squad, additional static emplacements are available at the ammunition dump. In the event both defensive lines cannot be held, units are advised to collapse into Ratzlingen and take up effective fighting positions within any suitable buildings. PHASE 1A: EASY 3 will depart from the rally point and begin maneuvering Westward towards FOB Javwel to track down a missing logistical convoy that was sent to collect much needed supplies and ammunition for the defenders at Ratzlingen. Upon locating the missing logistical elements, Easy 3 shall return to Ratzlingen and deliver the supplies to the ammunition dump near the center of town, and then occupy fighting positions at C1. A secondary defensive position has also been constructed at C2 in the event the primary line cannot be effectively held. NOMAD CALLSIGNS will depart from the rally point and begin occupying suitable Battle Positions around Ratzlingen. Nomad callsigns are primarily tasked with engaging enemy armoured and mechanized units that threaten any of the Easy infantry squads. Vehicle fighting positions have been marked at BP 1 through 5. PHASE 2: Once Ratzlingen has been deemed as secure, and the Soviet attacks cease, ALL CALLSIGNS will regroup at RP-0 for debriefing. In the event that Ratzlingen cannot be held, all units should conduct a fighting withdrawal towards the nearest friendly held town, or at FOB Javwel to the West.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply
Reserve supplies, vehicle ammunition and ordnance will be located at an ammunition dump near the center of Ratzlingen, however these reserves are limited until logistical elements sent to FOB Javwel return to Ratzlingen. For this reason, all team leaders shall ensure they have adequate supplies to last for a prolonged firefight. Squad weapon assistants and ammo bearers have extra capacity for reserve supplies. The platoon's support engineer, callsign EASY 7, is available for vehicle repairs that will be carried out at the ammunition dump. As well as assisting with constructing additional fighting positions for infantry squads if required.

Medical
Primary wound treatment and self aid should be applied using personal first aid kits, utilising the "buddy aid" system when possible. GUARDIAN 4 will be located at the CCP near the center of Ratzlingen for extensive casualty care, wound stitching and application of PAKs when needed.

Rules of Engagement
In accordance with SOP

Fire Support Plan
81mm mortar support stationed at FOB Javwel are available for fire missions at the request of Easy 9, and will be coordinated through Crossroads.
