Situation

Background Information
ARCHER continues their attempt to seize Gieraltów.

Friendly Forces
JW3797 - 15th Mechanized Brigade/Platoon D "ARCHER".

Supporting Assets
US Army 3dSqdn 2CavRg from Nadbór provides security of the already taken grounds.

Enemy Forces
Mostly Motor-Rifle Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Special Forces presence is plausible.

Mission

Tasking
ARCHER is tasked with creating a spearhead into weakened enemy lines, CAPTURE further and DEFEND Gieraltów.

End-state
Gieraltów is secured, and BLUFOR's presence is established.

Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this mission is to isolate the Russian forces south of our area of operations from ground-based supply lines. This will be achieved by liberating the tactically important town of Gieraltów.

Tasks and Sequencing

Concept of Operation

This mission will be divided into five phases: 1 - INFIL, 2 - RECLEARING, 3 - ASSAULT INITIATION, 4 - LIBERATION, 5 - DEFENCE. Phase 1: INFIL - Starts with all elements clear to off with suitable combat loads from Assembly Area Kappa. - Ends with the first element reaching RELEASE POINT CHARLIE. - Key tasks: Conduct foot-based insertion - All elements reach RELEASE POINT CHARLIE undetected in the order ARCHER 1, ARCHER 9, ARCHER 2. ARCHER 6 and ARCHER 7 will remain at Assembly Area Kappa. Phase 2: RECLEARING - Starts with elements reaching RELEASE POINT CHARLIE - Ends with ARCHER 1 reaching WAYPOINT DELTA 1-3 and ARCHER 2 reaching WAYPOINT DELTA 2-3 (OR ALTERNATIVELY DELTA 2-2, see details below) RESPECTIVELY. - Key tasks: Reclearing Sector Golf 1, Reaching respective waypoints. - All elements clear Sector Golf 1, ensuring that main assault will be conducted safely without risking an attack from the rear. ARCHER 6 and 7 creep up towards Golf 1 with resupply. Phase 3: ASSAULT INITIATION - Starts with all callsigns reaching their last DELTA WAYPOINT. - Ends with Sector GOLF 2 SEIZED AND SECURED. - Key tasks: Combat-clearing structures and compounds in Sector Golf 2, Reaching respective Echo Waypoints. - ARCHER platoon initiates a frontal attack on the occupied sectors in Gieraltów, with ARCHER 1 being chiefly responsible for the Northwestern side of the MSR and ARCHER 2 responsible of the Southeastern side. Phase 4: LIBERATION - Starts with callsigns at their respective ECHO WAYPOINTs. - Ends with all Golf sectors secured. - Key tasks: Combat-clearing structures and compounds in Sector Golf 3-6, Reaching DEFENSIVE LINE FOXTROT. - ARCHER platoon splits up, with ARCHER 1 seizing Golf 3 and ARCHER 2 focuses their attention on Golf 4-6. Phase 5: DEFENCE - Starts with all sectors secured and squads alongside defence line Foxtrot - Ends with potential and expected Russian Quick Reaction Forces from the North eliminated. - Key tasks: DIGGING IN along Defence Line Foxtrot, DEFENDING against enemy attack. - ARCHER platoon finds suitable positions along Defence Line Foxtrot and neutralises any counterattack from the Russian forces from the north.

Scheme of Manoeuvre

ALL CALLSIGNS General expectations for this operation are defined as methodical and coordinated progress. Momentum is not to suffer due to hastiness. General actions of objective when seizing enemy-occupied sectors: 1. ELIMINATE ANY OPPOSITION. 2. CHECK ALL APPROPRIATE STRUCTURES. 3. SEARCH FOR INTEL 4. CALL SECTOR CLEAR. 5. ASSUME DEFENSIVE POSTURE UNTIL FURTHER ORDERS. ACE report is expected after each sector. In Phase 5, should defence line Foxtrot become indefensible, ARCHER platoon will orchestrate a coordinated disengagement and fall back towards the T-junction between Waypoint Echo 1 and Waypoint Echo 2. ARCHER 1 ARCHER 1 moves first in the unified movement during Phase 1, and provides the platoon with good land-based reconnaissance in this phase. During Phase 2, ARCHER 1 secures the northern side of Sector Golf 1, ideally without enemy detection. If avoidance of detection is made unlikely, ARCHER 1 initiates contact once conditions are set for successful firefight. In Phase 3, ARCHER 1 assumes a more aggressive stance, seeking to penetrate and push the enemy back. Primary objective for ARCHER 1 here is to clear the Western side of the MSR, Eastern side may also become part of ARCHER 1's responsibility depending on the adequacy of Waypoint Delta 2-2 as a Support-by-Fire position. This stance is maintained in Phase 4, with ARCHER 1 seizing Sector Golf 3. In Phase 5, the squad assumes defensive positions Northwest 180 degrees. ARCHER 2 ARCHER 2 travels as rear guard during the unified movement during Phase 1, with tasking follow and assume. Phase 2 sees ARCHER 2 securing southern side of Sector Golf 1 alongside the MSR and the military compound just southeast of the main town. This happens ideally without enemy detection, but should this become difficult, contact may be initiated on our premises. ARCHER 2 is to stop at either military compound (Waypoint Delta 2-2) or move on to Waypoint Delta 2-3. This decision depends on whether ARCHER 2 would be able to provide an adequate Support-by-fire position from DELTA 2-2. If SBF positions are adequate, Archer 2 assumes SBF position at Delta 2-2, if not Archer 2 continues to Delta 2-3. The squad then assumes a more aggressive stance in Phase 3, and coordinates with and supports ARCHER 1 penetrating OPFOR defences. Should Delta 2-2 not be tenable as support-by-fire position, ARCHER 2 will then clear the southeast side of the MSR in Sector Golf 3. This stance is maintained in Phase 4, with ARCHER 2 seizing Sector Golf 4, Golf 5, and Golf 6. In Phase 5, the squad assumes defensive positions Northeast 180 degrees.

Scheme of Engineer Operations

ARCHER 7 ensures easy availability of resupply to squads upon request. This will be organised through vehicular movement to and from Assembly Area Kappa. ARCHER 7 finds suitable locations for Logistical Points, and coordinates with squads should logistical support need to be brought up to the frontlines. ARCHER 7 also prepares AT mines on the road just East of the marked trenches and to the west of Waypoint Delta 1-3. This, however, is only to be conducted if those areas are perceived to be completely secure at the time, and not at the cost of resupply or other frontline-related requirements.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply
Resupply is organised through ARCHER 7. ALL CALLSIGNS are, despite resupply access, requested to bring a full combat load and conserve ammunition where possible.

Medical
TEMPORARY CCPS WILL BE COORDINATED AND LED BY ARCHER 8. IF REQUIRED, MEDEVAC BACK TO NADBÓR COULD BE ORGANISED, but must be specifically requested. FINAL DECISION TO BODYBAG SOLDIERS RESTS WITH ARCHER 8.
