--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationSeptember 29th 1985 Northern Army Group WARNING ORDER - IMPENDING ENEMY ATTACK Soviet forces have regrouped north of Rostok and are believed to launch an attack with the aim of capturing Smitty Airbase. Days have gone past with no movement in the North, but just a few hours ago, forward recon teams spotted soviet motorized infantry advancing, under the cover of the night, west towards the town of Kirvansk. A US Army motorized infantry platoon is tasked with relieving a defence line garrison in anticipation of a Soviet attack on Nikovskaya. NOTE: Due to reports of clandestine operations with the use of civilian vehicles, and curious overflights of soviet transport aircraft, the checkpoint and SHORAD networks have increased.
Friendly Forces
US Army motorised infantry platoon; -3x infantry squad
Supporting Assets
- 2x M119A1 howitzer for long-range counter-battery support - 3x M224 mortar for medium to close range support - 3x AA systems located at the airbase
Enemy Forces
Forward scouts report CRP constructed of mechanized infantry, followed by a vanguard of mechanized infantry supported by tanks. High chances of enemy air and artillery.
Mission
TaskingHold the line south of Nikovskaya until nightfall.
End-state
Platoon relieved after nightfall, the line successfully held. Rostok must not fall.
Execution
Commander's IntentThe purpose of this mission is a continued defence against a favoured Soviet attack vector to solidify the front over the following days and deny a salient breach. We are the first line of defence while development in depth behind us continues, so we must not give and make the enemy fight for every inch.
Tasks and Sequencing
ALL CALLSIGNS prepare sustainment sufficient for the mission using provided transport trucks. Sierra platoon mounts these trucks with each squad driving their own. SIERRA 9 splits HQ between a Humvee and a Humvee ambulance. Departure takes a left turn from the airbase via Nizhnegorsk, then through a friendly checkpoint to head north.

Administration/Logistics
ResupplyALL CALLSIGNS cross the LD fully loaded according to unit SOP. These supplies will come from the staging area. This basic load is expected to sustain the team throughout the mission, without support. Special purpose equipment is taken over from the relieved WHISKY platoon at the trenches.
Medical
The primary means of MEDEVAC is by the buddy principle for an evacuation to the rear at SIERRA command post. - Medical support will be conducted in field (PAK in Field)
