--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationSix months ago, U.S. and Afghan forces were forced to retreat from Bala Murghab, a key valley in Badghis province, after a relentless Taliban assault. The fall of FOB Todd and its surrounding outposts marked a brutal withdrawal, as Taliban ambushes severed the valley’s only supply route and Afghan National Army units crumbled under the pressure. The insurgents seized weapons, vehicles, and fortified their positions, transforming Bala Murghab into a stronghold for cross-border operations and ambushes along Highway 1. Now, U.S. commanders have launched Operation Alpine Sentinel, a decisive effort to reclaim the valley. The operation began with a successful air assault, swiftly securing the Expeditionary Airfield and a number of small COPs and OBJs thus establishing a crucial foothold in the region. With supply routes still under threat, a convoy is preparing to advance toward OBJ Jackal to establish a further presence in the valley resupplying the existing positions along the way. Note: This is trial of the section style ORBAT, however, this is only the case to allow more efficient usage of the vehicles.
Friendly Forces
Ground Force HITMAN: A Motorised Reconnaissance Platoon acting as escort for Supply Convoy mounted in 5x Humvee. NOMAD: A Supply Convoy consisting of 4 Trucks of various types. Air Wing CYCLOPS: A-10 Thunderbolt II Flight.
Supporting Assets
Small garrison forces at each of the resupply locations. No additional forces in the AO. This is seen as a secondary AO so command are unwilling to divert additional resources at this time.
Enemy Forces
Taliban insurgent forces mixed in with local populous. Expected to have Soviet era weapons mixed with abandoned ANA equipment and vehicles. They are expected to be spread out across the AO but will likely concentrate forces to try and disrupt the convoy.
Mission
Execution
Commander's IntentAfter the withdrawal of friendly forces from Bala Murghab Hitman platoon has been tasked with entering the city and resecuring OBJ Jackal. Along the way we will resupply 4 key support bases. We will move as a convoy with HITMAN providing security for NOMAD 4 as they deliver and construct any supplies. it is essential that squad leaders from HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 talk to the personnel from each base and gather any intelligence they can as we are not sure what kind of fight we are walking into.
Tasks and Sequencing
Convoy Order: HITMAN 1 HITMAN 1-1 HITMAN 2 HITMAN 2-1 HITMAN 9 NOMAD 4 Convoy Net: 45 ALL CALLSIGNS will follow the marked route Whiskey to resupply each base along the way, we have an alternate route (route Claret) for travelling between COP Stingray and OBJ Saturn. After we have resupplied OBJ Saturn we will move to the New bridge to begin our assault on the Bala Murghab. in sector 9b HITMAN 2 will set a base of fire for HITMAN 1 to move across the bridge into sector 11a. Once HITMAN 1 have a foothold in sector 11a HITMAN 2 will move across into sector 10b. The Platoon will then clear through the remainder of the Town (Sectors market Orange are HITMAN 2's responsibility and Green sectors are HITMAN 1's responsibility) until we reach OBJ Jackal. At OBJ Jackal we will establish defensive positions, HITMAN 1 will set positions to the East and HITMAN 2 will set positions to the West. At this time NOMAD 4 will begin repairing and setting up OBJ Jack as a FOB. We will defend this FOB to the last man as it is a key launchpad for our offensive into the region to the north. After the FOB has been set up HITMAN will await further tasking from command. Notes: If the Convoy encounters contact while on route we will go first with HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 setting BOF on the west and east side of the road respectively, once set HITMAN 1 will maintain BOF while HITMAN 2 will assault the enemy position. Comman have limited intelligence of the allegiance of the civilian population to the north of OBJ Saturn, as such there is a potential that we will have to fight our way through to the north. to account for this, clearance sector have been marked with HITMAN 1 being responsible for sectors marked in green while HITMAN 2 are responsible for sectors marked in orange. The squads will clear in parallel with each other to ensure we are not flanked as the logi element of the convoy is to be considered mission critical.
