--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationIn early 2016, the authoritarian state of Donovia, emboldened by its growing regional influence and a desire to reassert its dominance in Eastern Europe, launched a sudden and aggressive invasion of its southwestern neighbor, Pirturi. Claiming to protect the ethnic Donovian minority living in the region, Donovia’s government issued a public declaration that its military intervention was necessary to prevent the alleged persecution of their people by the Pirturi government. However, the speed and scale of the assault revealed a more ominous agenda. Within days, Donovian forces swept across the eastern provinces of Pirturi, overwhelming the country’s defenses and seizing vital infrastructure, including key airfields, and transportation hubs. With the Pirturi military unable to mount a substantial defense, Donovia quickly installed puppet authorities in the occupied territories, consolidating its control. The international community, including the United Nations and the European Union, condemned the invasion as a blatant violation of sovereignty, but diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation were futile. In response to this unchecked aggression, NATO issued a final ultimatum: Donovia must withdraw all forces from Pirturi or face direct military intervention. When Donovia refused, making it clear that it would not bow to external pressure, NATO moved swiftly to initiate Operation Iron Vigil, a wide-reaching mobilization of military forces across Europe, preparing for a coordinated multi-front offensive aimed at pushing Donovian troops out of Pirturi and reversing the occupation. As part of this effort, the German 23rd Arctic Jaeger Battalion, stationed in Northern Finland, has been deployed under Task Force Borealis, NATO’s elite Arctic strike element. It’s mission, Operation Arctic Bulwark, is to seize key terrain along the Finland–Donovia border and push into lightly defended northern sectors of Donovia. The objective is to capture ground, destabilize Donovia’s northern flank, and force them back to the negotiating table under pressure without triggering a full-scale war.
Friendly Forces
1x Light Infantry Company 2x Weisel with 20mm Autocannon 1x US Reaper UAV Logistics Support
Supporting Assets
Friendly forces to the north and south conducting similar operations. Artillery assets may be requested through Battlegroup HQ.
Enemy Forces
Donovian VDV forces with appropriate air mobile equipment. BMDs, Light armour, mortars etc. Heavy armour is not expected to be present and NATO has air superiority in the AO so little to no air assets are expected to be encountered. Expected to be preparing defences in the AO but due to the rapidly evolving situation, they are unlikely to be fully dug in or at full strength.
Mission
TaskingTask Force Commander's Intent 23rd Arctic Jaeger Battlegroup will seize Donovian territory along the Finnish/Donovian border to strengthen the position of the the NATO negotiators and will remain combat effective to be able to carry out future operations. Battlegroup Commander's Intent: Alpha Company will advance and seize Donovian territory including four key river crossings with the Limit of Exploitation being the garrison town of Gullanabba and be ready to conduct future operations.
End-state
Essential Mission Objectives: - 4x river crossings secured. - Any Donovian VDV forces encountered destroyed. The tasking is deliberately open to interpretation and the company should be prepared to exploit the situation and act on intel gathered without the need for further instruction from Battlegroup HQ. Desirable Mission Objectives: - Gullanabba secured. - Enemy Combat Support and Combat Service Support Assets destroyed.
Execution
Commander's IntentThe company's intent is to cut a salient along the river towards Gullanaba, such that each platoon advances and screens along their respective flank. All actions must be decisive to gain tempo.
Tasks and Sequencing
