--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationThe Tet ceasefire has proven to be a cover for a massive, coordinated assault by the NVA. VIPER Platoon is the nearest QRF and has been rapidly mobilised, supported by a mobile mortar element to support local forces in the region. Note: HAMMER 1-3and HAMMER 2-3 will be in M125A1 M29 Mortar with M2 gun. Hammer will be integrated within the squads reporting to the SL. Hammer will be authorised to self designate own targets within parameters set by FL in the OPORD or take fire missions directly from their SL. Artillery Computer will be enabled VENOM 3 will be in M113A1 ACAV (M2) War correspondent should be an experienced streamer and willing to write a short account of the action. Please contact FL and IO if interested. (In the event of poor attendance war correspondent will be asked to take up another role within the platoon) Expected Level of Combat : ☆☆☆ (Expect the full chaos and intensity of Vietnam and the Tet offensive) Expected Level of RP: ☆ Expected Difficulty: ☆☆☆ Three-star rating: ☆ Little to none expected ☆☆ Decent amount expected ☆☆☆ Heavy emphasis / main focus of Operation
Friendly Forces
1x Platoon HQ 2x Infantry sections with integrated MG teams 2x M125A1 M29 Mortar with M2 integrated into squads 2x M113A1 ACAV (M2) Logistical element
Supporting Assets
All US bases in the AO are simultaneously under attack so support is limited. Mert team available at startX on standby for casualties and reinserts. Friendly forces are believed to still be holding of attackers in Da nang.
Mission
TaskingReinforce forces in Da Nang hospital and Naval listing station as they are suffering heavy casualties after a surprise attack from NVA forces. After Da-Nang has been liberated convoy onwards to FOB Phu Bai and reinforce as they are taking heavy contact from hue. Hold key positions in Da Nang and FOB Phu Bai repelling the NVA where possible. Note from LGM: This mission is aiming to replicate the chaos and bloodshed of the Tet offensive. As such reinserts will be dealt with as a priority via Huey or APC reinserts via CROSSROADS This is to simulate the continuous enforcements the US would have available and to ensure the atmosphere feels realistic but ultimately ensuring players aren’t out of the fight to long.
End-state
Da Nang Liberated and FOB Phu Bai defended ready for an attack on hue
Execution
Commander's IntentThe intent is to repeal the enemy attacks on friendly positions.
Tasks and Sequencing
PHASE 1 ALL COMBAT ELEMENTS will step off towards Da Nang Naval Listening Station. In the case of heavy contact across the river, VIPER 1 & 2 can mount up in VENOM 3 to expedite movement across open ground VIPER 1 & 2 will support the Naval Listening Station by assaulting the enemies and clearing it in case its overrun Hammer 1-3 & 2-3 should help VIPER 1 & 2's assault as much as possible, and if unable, cover west across the river. VENOM 3 will cover the bridge to ensure no hostile forces cross it PHASE 2 Once the Naval Listening Station has been cleared of all hostiles ALL COMBAT ELEMENTS will cross the bridge and proceed to clear the town along assigned routes. When the Military Hospital has been reached and cleared of hostiles, CASTLE 4 will set up a LOGPAK and ALL CALLSIGNS will defend until enemy attacks cease. When attacks cease, ALL CALLSIGNS will top up on equipment and push to the northern-western edge of Da Nang. PHASE 3 When Da Nang has been deemed clear enough, ALL CALLSIGNS will mount up and drive to FOB Phu Bai On arrival, Hammer 1-3 will drive 10-20 meters past the entrance and allow others to enter the FOB before entering themselves. CASTLE 4 will set up an RRR station as well as LOGPAK Then ALL COMBAT ELEMENTS will take up their respective defensive positions and hold out until enemy forces give up and retreat. Convoy order: - Hammer 1-3 - Venom 3 - Viper 1 & 2 - Viper 9 - Castle 4 - Hammer 2-3 Reaction to Ambush: Due to relatively slow vehicles and poor terrain, main strategy will be to dismount and fight attackers off
