Mission
TaskingRace One: Timed Trial Aircraft: RHS OH-6M Team Setup: Buddy team with one instructor onboard Course: Start point to end point through 55 circles Time Limit: 30 minutes per team Tasking Fly the course as quickly and cleanly as possible. Teams must pass through all 55 circles while the observer also spots and marks objects along the route. Attempts Each pilot will get: 1 practice run 2 official attempts The best valid official attempt will count as the team’s final time. Penalties Missed circle: +10 seconds Missed object: +5 seconds Crash: DNR for that attempt There are 6 objects to spot in total. These will be a billboards Observer Task During the run, the observer must mark the 10 objects placed along the route and mark on the map. Judge Role One judge will fly with each buddy team. They will confirm missed circles, missed objects, crashes, and any penalties. Their decision is final. Fair Play Teams must not share object locations, hints, or route information with other teams. Any team caught sharing information will receive the maximum object penalty: The timer will start from the engine on at a cold take off and finish when landed at the end point helipad intact. Scoring The team’s final score is: **Best official time + penalties** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Task Two: Load, Drop and Go Aircraft: CH-53E Team Setup: 1CH-53E per buddy team Time Limit: 25 minutes Objective: Score as many points as possible before time expires Aim Teams must use their Chinooks to complete two types of task: Transport and place Humvees by sling load Para drop cargo into marked drop zones It is up to each team how they split the work and decide the order of tasks. Core Rules Each Chinook may carry a maximum of 2 cargo items at a time. A Chinook cannot sling load and carry cargo at the same time. Cargo must be loaded by the gunner of that helicopter. Teams may only land for: Resupply Loading more cargo No other landings are allowed. Crashes do not give a direct penalty, but any time lost will count against the team. Humvee Sling Load Task There are 4 Humvees in total. Each buddy team is responsible for 2 Humvees. Each Humvee has a designated: Pick-up point Drop-off point Placement area At each landing zone, there will be 1 enemy vehicle that must be destroyed before the Humvee can be placed. To score, the Humvee must be placed inside the designated area. Humvee Points Each correctly placed Humvee: 10 points If all 4 Humvees are correctly placed: +40 bonus points This means the Humvee task is worth up to 80 points total. Cargo Para Drop Task There are 12 para drop circles. Before cargo can be dropped at a circle, the enemy vehicle defending that area must be destroyed. Para drops must be performed from at least 50 metres altitude. Cargo will score based on where it lands. Para Drop Points Zone Difficulty Direct Hit Near Miss Green Easy 3 points 1 point Orange Medium 5 points 3 points Red Hard 10 points 5 points A near miss means the cargo lands within 10 metres of the edge of the zone. Anything outside the near miss range scores 0 points. Judging Judges will confirm: Successful Humvee placement Enemy vehicle destruction Cargo drop accuracy Any rule breaches The judges’ decision is final. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trial Three: Collecting Kevin’s Pizza Money Aircraft: UH-60M Team Setup: 1 UH-60M per buddy team Time Limit: 30 minutes Objective: Collect money from 12 locations and score as many points as possible Aim Kevin is owed pizza money, and somehow this has become a rotary-wing debt collection operation. Each team must collect money from 12 locations within the time limit. There are 20 possible locations, so teams must choose their route carefully. Scoring is based on both time and points collected. Location Points Location Difficulty Points Green Easy 10 points Orange Medium 20 points Red Hard 30 points Difficulty may be based on landing difficulty, enemy presence, threats in the area, or a combination of these. Collection Rules Each collection point will be marked with blue smoke. At each location, the team must insert their gunner into the marked area. This can be done by either: Landing inside the marked area Fast roping into the marked area The gunner must also be collected from the marked area before the team moves on. Boundaries and Fair Play Teams must not drop off or collect the gunner outside the marked area. Landing outside the area to make the task easier will be considered cheating. If there is any doubt about the correct area, teams should ask the judge before attempting the insertion or pickup. Crashes Crashes do not end the run. However, if a team crashes, they must be airlifted back to the start point before they can take a replacement helicopter. The timer will continue running during this process, so crashes will cause a significant delay. Scoring Scoring is based on two elements: Completion time Total points collected The fastest team will not automatically win. A team may finish quickly but score fewer points if they only complete easier locations. The final result will be calculated by balancing the team’s time against the points they collected. Judging Judges will confirm: Valid insertions Valid pickups Successful collections Location points Crashes and restarts Any rule breaches The judge’s decision is final.
