--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationAfter the failure to secure or maintain control by previously embedded forces, UNITAF forces are being stationed in the Uzbin Valley, Eastern Afghanistan. The valley is situated less than 40km from Kabul and less than 100km, at it's closest point, from the boarder of Pakistan. Insurgent forces from all over the Middle East region are believed to be flooding in from this boarder and many of them make their way through the mountainous but populated Uzbin Valley. It is therefore vital this area be tightly controlled by Coalition forces. UNITAF forces will be stationed out of COP Rocco, originally created as a company sized outpost by the French Foreign Legion but has, in recent months, been little more than a staging area for withdrawal of forces across the valley. The airfield section of the COP has been significantly damaged due to repeated mortar, RPG and SPG-9 attacks and currently stands as unable to service fixed wing vehicles. The road to the North West of COP Rocco should serve as a primary route of supplies to the COP but it too has been left to insurgent forces and is at present unable to provide supplies, the machinery and equipment needed to repair the airfield and allow UNITAF forces to conduct their Operations in fitting with their objectives. In the immediate area North West of the COP lay several small villages who are, at present, considered friendly and willing to assist UNITAF forces to rid their home lands of insurgents, participate in bringing about a peaceful and prosperous future for the region. The Elders of these villages should be viewed as integral to the successful continuation of operation in the area and should be met with before conducting any major operations as well as used as a source of intelligence. All other areas are to be treated as hostile, though collateral damage is to be expected, it is to be avoided wherever possible with the constant intention to win hearts and minds in the Valley. There are a number of High Value Targets (HVT) in the area, all UNITAF forces will be provided with "Most Wanted" cards with details on each HVT. UNITAF forces should commit these to memory and be on the lookout for HVT's to detain or neutralize.

Execution
Commander's IntentComplete a presence patrol to secure a route to COP ROCCO
Tasks and Sequencing
Once landed at COP ROCCO, we will be completing a staggard foot patrol, with the front team using their mine detectors to clear the road. If an IED is found we are to secure a perimeter for the Comabt Enginner to move forward and defuse. We will continue to do this to the ENDEX point. If we come across any civilians we are to be respectful and we are not to point our weapons at them. This is all about hearts and minds. We are to return fire only. However, IF we see someone placing an IED we are to ensure it is confirmed and we are allowed to neutralize them.
