Situation

Background Information

WAR IS RIFE ACROSS EUROPE AND ASIA. WWII IS IN FULL SWING. ALLY FORCES ARE FIGHTING FOR CONTROL OF FRONTS ALL OVER THE WORLD, WE WILL BE DEPLOYING TO BARANOW, POLAND.

AXIS FORCES CONTROL ALL THE NORTH OF THE REGION OF BARANOW, THEY HAVE FORTIFIED WELL IN PREPARATION FOR ALLY ADVANCES THROUGH THE AREA AND HAVE CAPTURED BOTH THE VITAL BRIDGES. PLACING HEAVY BUNKERS AND ANTI TANK GUNS IN KEY LOCATIONS ALONG THE RIVER HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED THE ALLY ADVANCE THROUGH POLAND. THIS MUST CHANGE.

THE AXIS FORCES ALSO CONTROL A HEAVILY FORTIFIED AIRFIELD TO THE NORTH EAST OF THE REGION (06,99). ALONG WITH THEIR STRONG MILITARY FOOTHOLD THE GERMAN FORCES HAVE OCCUPIED MOST OF THE TOWNS AND SET UP CHECKPOINTS ALONG THE MAIN ROADS MAKING TRAVEL BY ROAD DIFFICULT.

ALLY FORCES IN THE REGION CONSISTS OF A BRITISH PARACHUTE PLATOON WITH TRANSPORT AIR WING AND A PLATOON OF M4A3E8 SHERMAN MBTS WITH ACCOMPANYING INFANTRY FROM THE 2ND ARMOURED BATTALION.

Mission

Tasking

We are to secure the bridge to the east of the region. The British Para's will go behind enemy lines via parachute insertion and attack the bridge defences from the rear where they will be at their weakest.

Then a full frontal attack by the US armoured division will decimate the remaining axis troops.

Finally a push through to the town of Bogoryja where we aim to capture it and dig in to ready ourselves for an attack on the airfield in the coming days.

Execution

Tasks and Sequencing

British Tasking,

Paratroopers.

  • Stage 1 - 00:00:00UTC

British Paratroopers are to drop behind enemy lines and move to a rendezvous position in grid (0583,9708) code name ‘Hotel’ once arriving at the position troops are to dig in and are encouraged to scout the hostile positions while night is still our ally. Troopers are encouraged to remain undetected until the main operation begins so as to not become cut off from support, failing in this will more than certainly cost lives.

  • Stage 2 - 06:00:00est

Troopers are to move east with due course when the main attack is signaled. Any number of German AT Guns has been reported by aerial recon on the riverside so this will be the main concern for the squads. Upon the destruction of that gun/s the US troops will be able to push the bridge and push back the remaining germans. The position is highly defended and reinforcements from the neighbouring airfield and large towns are more than certain. It is paramount the friendly armour can cross the bridge or the attack will certainly fail.

United States Tasking.

Mechanised Infantry.

  • Stage 1 - 00:00:00UTC

Armour and escorting infantry squads are to move to PHASE LINE ONE utilizing the cover of darkness to get the armour in position. Upon reaching phase line one infantry squads are recommended to send our scouts, however visibility will be low due to the time of day but any recon is better than none. Remaining unspotted is paramount until all units are ready for the operation proper to begin, so remain alert and keep trigger discipline.

  • Stage 2 - 06:00:00est

When the main attack is signaled at day break US forces are to engage Nazi held positions along the north side of the river. Photo Reconnaissance has shown fortifications and Anti-tank guns in place so range, cover and concealment are the units best choice until the British can destroy the Anti tank guns that are holding the tanks back.

Once the AT gun/s are disabled crossing the bridge becomes your main focus alongside capturing the positions still occupied along the river bank. This is when the tanks will finally come into play more heavily. Remember the sooner the AT guns are down the sooner the tanks can roll in.

Joint Tasking.

All Forces.

Once the river bank and the surrounding area are under ally control and the bridge is safe to be left without risk of counter attack. Ally forces are to make a push on the northern town of Bogoryja and capture it then dig in and form a new phase line in preparations for assaulting the airfield to the north in the following days.

It will be up to the command element on the ground as to what time exactly the attack will begin, both forces will have to agree a time and pass that up to Warlock to begin the main attack.
