Situation

Background Information
BRITISH PATHFINDER AND SIGNAL TROOPS HAVE REPORTED A LARGE SCALE TALIBAN ASSAULT ON THEIR POSITION AT COP OBAN. A QUICK REACTION FORCE IS BEING DISPATCHED TO QUELL THE ATTACK AND EXTRACT FRIENDLY FORCES BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

THE ENEMY TALIBAN FORCE CONSISTS OF LIGHT INFANTRY, SUPPORTED BY MODIFIED CIVILIAN TECHNICALS, OLDER GENERATION SOVIET ARMOURED PERSONNEL CARRIERS AND SMALL CALIBRE MORTARS.

Mission

Tasking
PRIMARY: • RESCUE THE BRITISH PATHFINDERS AND SIGNAL TROOPS AT COP OBAN AND EXTRACT THEM TO GARIBALDI AIRBASE. SECONDARY: • SEARCH THE NEARBY URBAN AREAS FOR SIGNS OR PRESENCE OF THE REMAINING CAPTURED GLOBEX EMPLOYEES. • WEAKEN TALIBAN PRESENCE WITHIN THE VALLEY.

End-state
AT LEAST ALL BRITISH PATHFINDERS, SIGNAL TROOPS AND QUICK REACTION FORCES SUCCESSFULLY EXTRACTED TO GARIBALDI AIRBASE.

Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this mission is to relieve BLUFOR under threat at COP OBAN, before searching local urban areas for captured BLUFOR.

Tasks and Sequencing
WEAPONS ORANGE. DELTA 9 will be inserted into LZ-ALUMINIUM (with LZ-BRONZE as an alternate LZ) via LIMA 4-1 with ROMEO 5 in support. Throughout the operation, ROMEO 5 should provide accurate intel regarding OPFOR location and composition, potential sightings or locations of HOSTAGES, and engage any motorised OPFOR assets. DELTA 9 will move to COP OBAN in SECTOR-1 and clear it if necessary, establishing defensive positions to the NW and E. After repelling any attack, DELTA 9 will move to SECTOR 2 and begin search for HOSTAGES. This will be followed by a move to SECTOR-3, where DELTA 1 will clear the village of HUN whilst DELTA 2 provide overwatch from above and support if needed, again searching for CIV HOSTAGES. When SECTOR-3 is cleared, RESUPPLY will occur if required on FLRP-1 where LIMA 4-1 will evacuate any HOSTAGES found. After a move to SECTOR-4, DELTA will clear AL-HARIQ and continue search for HOSTAGES, with DELTA 1 clearing the East, and DELTA 2 clearing the West, maneuvering together. If required, another RESUPPLY will occur on FLRP-2, extracting any further HOSTAGES. Moving to SECTOR-5 DELTA will clear the town of BEN GUERRIR. Ensuring they only move when both team have completed their current sector to ensure support, DELTA 1 will clear 5A, 5D,and 5C. DELTA 2 will clear 5B, 5E, and 5G, with both teams then clearing 5F. RESUPPLY and HOSTAGE extraction will occur on FLRP-3. Last, DELTA will move to SECTOR-6 and clear RANI SANAA, with DELTA 1 clearing the North, and DELTA 2 clearing the South. EXTRACTION will be provided for DELTA and remaining CIV HOSTAGES by LIMA 4-1. ENDEX upon return to GARIBALDI AIRBASE.

There is no planned MEDEVAC. CCPs should be established with aerial support from ROMEO 5
