Situation
Background InformationInvasion of Iraq. 4th Infantry division has been sent in behind the United States Marine Corps to sustain the presence. All USMC forces have pulled out of the area of operations and left insurgents to retake captured land. We must secure the southern airfield. This will allow us receive aircraft. You are the first line defense and tip of the spear.
Enemy Forces
Insurgent cells are operating within the AO and control majority of the nearby villages. Insurgents have forced out all civilians who are unwilling to join arms. All hostiles will be easily noticeable. They have ZERO IED capability.
Mission
TaskingDirect Tasking Clear assigned villages and remove threats to allow freedom of movement to the airfield. 1-Up Intent Eliminate enemy activity within the AO and establish conditions for air operations. 2-Up Intent Establish security and freedom to the airfield and expand our sphere of control following the withdrawal of Marine forces.
End-state
-Villages are freed from insurgent activity -Airfield is under our control -Sustainment can continue without disruption Mission Failures -Group up and return to FOB
Execution
Commander's IntentThe purpose of this mission is to reclaim the southern airfield to enable air operations, and to eliminate all insurgent resistance in the AO.
Tasks and Sequencing
PHASE 0: Preparation - ALL CALLSIGNS load embedded Bradley's with all supplies required to sustain operations for the duration of this mission. -- Logistics Support Chief will copy vehicle inventories to maintain supplies in the event of a vehicle detonation. - ALL CALLSIGNS Form convoy at RP-A. -- Convoy order: -- BAKER 1 -- BAKER 9 -- BAKER 2 --(CASTLE 4). - To accommodate the 6-seat M2A3's, BAKER 9 will transport 2 members from 1st Squad & 2 members from 2nd Squad for all mounted movement.
PHASE 1: OBJ LIBERTY - ALL CALLSIGNS move to RP-C. -- Canalizing Ground will require speed and full commitment to sector entry. - BAKER 1 clears along marked alpha sectors. - BAKER 2 clears along marked bravo sectors. -- At sector breaks, squads SBF and bound to next sectors as marked.
PHASE 2: Objective Freedom - ALL CALLSIGNS Form convoy at RP-D and cross PL-B. -- Convoy continues to RP-H, aiming for the western flank of the town. - BAKER 1 seizes A6, opening logistics operations at LRP-W. - BAKER 2 establishes BOF on Chak Chak, eliminating all defenses. -- Upon clearance of A6, BAKER 1 exploits fire superiority and makes entry into A7. - ALL CALLSIGNS clear through sectors as marked.
PHASE 3: Objective Democracy - BAKER 1 establishes fire superiority towards A10 & B10 sectors. - BAKER 2 makes entry into marked sectors. - ALL CALLSIGNS advance along assigned alpha & bravo sectors. -- At sector breaks, squads SBF and bound to next sectors as marked. - S13 is cleared in tandem, utilizing vehicle breaching as required.
PHASE 4: Objective Emancipation - ALL CALLSIGNS maintain fire superiority on airfield while advancing for assault. -- BAKER 1 opens BOF on the airfield while BAKER 2 clears B14. -- Squads bound to subsequent sectors, BAKER 1 at A14 while BAKER 2 maintains BOF to the north. - Upon clearance of sector 14, ALL CALLSIGNS enter S15 in tandem. - S16 is maneuvered on in response to casualties and combat readiness.
Administration/Logistics
Resupply- ALL CALLSIGNS load embedded Bradley's with all supplies required to sustain operations for the duration of this mission. -- Logistics Support Chief will copy vehicle inventories to maintain supplies in the event of a vehicle detonation. -- Emergency resupply will remain available at any marked LRP as a last priority only. - As a top priority, CASTLE 4 will maintain M2A3's with refuel, repair and rearm operations at all marked LRPs.

- Complete Medical support will be conducted in field (PAK in Field on)
