Mission
TaskingLiberate Žichovice
End-state
If an enemy counter attack is spotted, the platoon is tasked to hold the town, then endex at a viable position.
Execution
Commander's IntentThe purpose of this mission is to seize Žichovice in order to secure key terrain and enable the wider force to seize key terrain to our north and south. This operation is part of a coordinated, multi-axis attack, and our success directly supports manoeuvre by adjacent friendly elements. We will achieve this by penetrating the enemy's forward defences by exploiting a key vulnerability on its northeastern limits, and then rapidly securing a beachhead for security forces and logistics. We will then assault and seize key militar installations in the town. Success is defined by: - The eastern frontlines are under BLUFOR control - Enemy positions are abandoned or neutralised - BLUFOR forces have secured the military base, logistics base and mortar pit - BLUFOR has established a defensive line on the western side of Žichovice.
Tasks and Sequencing
CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS
This operation is part of a coordinated, multi-axis attack. While friendly forces engage enemy positions to the north and south, our task is to penetrate the enemy’s eastern defensive belt and exploit into the town and military installations, preventing the enemy from re-establishing a coherent defence. The platoon will move as a single element to the assault point. On order, artillery will engage enemy frontline positions, after which manoeuvre elements will detach. Hunter will establish a support-by-fire and isolation posture around the checkpoint, while Spear conducts the decisive breach and assault once artillery fires lift. Following seizure of the checkpoint, forces will exploit immediately into depth. Spear elements will split tasks between clearing remaining frontline positions and seizing key objectives in the town and base area. Artillery and Hunter will shift fires in support as the attack progresses. The operation concludes with the seizure of enemy fire support and sustainment assets, followed by the occupation of defensive positions along the LOA to defeat counterattacks and enable follow-on operations. Tempo and sequencing are decisive. Units are to maintain momentum, adhere to assigned tasks, and avoid becoming decisively engaged outside their designated axis unless ordered. Communication along both horizontal and vertical axes will be essential for tonight's mission.SCHEME OF MANOUEVRE
PHASE 1 – APPROACH The platoon advances as a single, unified element from the staging area to the designated assault point. No engagement is sought or expected during this phase, but all elements are expected to keep watch for any abnormal or suspicious activity. PHASE 2 – SHAPING FIRES AND ISOLATION Upon arrival at the assault point, at Spear 9's command, artillery engages enemy frontline positions to fix defenders and degrade observation. On order, manoeuvre elements detach simultaneously. Hunter occupies their designated battle position, from which they engage in support-by-fire and isolation. Their priority is to isolate the checkpoint to disallow OPFOR QRF to engage Spear. Timing-wise, Hunteris expected to move to their position simultaneously as the first artillery rounds land. Spear manouvres towards the checkpoint. - Spear 1 leads the movement and establishes an assault posture. - Spear 2 follows at a sufficient distance to avoid canalisation and shared casaulties. The assault on the checkpoint does not commence until artillery fires have lifted. PHASE 3 – CHECKPOINT SEIZURE AND FRONTLINE RUPTURE Once artillery ceases: Spear 1 assaults and seizes the checkpoint. Upon confirmation of seizure, - Spear 2 passes through Spear 1 and advances southward to clear remaining frontline positions, reaching and seizing objective 1B. - Spear 1 reorients southwestwards and advances into the town and seizes objective 1A. Artillery shifts to suppress the military base at objective 2B and its surrounding defences. Hunter continues to provide long-range fires from their positions. Tempo is critical during this phase. PHASE 4 – MILITARY BASE ASSAULT With a foothold established in the town: - Artillery shifts to suppress the military base at objective 3A and 3B. - Spear 1 advances to seize Objective 2A and conducts clearance of the military depot. Upon success, they support and join Spear 2 in seizing Objective 2B. - Spear 2 initiates the assault on the military base at Objective 2B. Hunter may displace forward into the town only if required to maintain effective fires, and only on order from higher command. If displaced, Hunter must be aware of any risks to their own security. Their task remains to support the infantry efforts by fire. PHASE 5 – NEUTRALISATION OF ENEMY FIRES AND CONSOLIDATION Following seizure of the base complex: - BLUFOR artillery efforts seize completely. - Spear 1 advances to seize the mortar position. - Spear 2 advances to seize the logistics hub. Friendly forces then occupy designated defensive positions along the LOA, oriented to defeat expected counterattacks and secure gains for follow-on forces.Administration/Logistics
ResupplyLOGPAKs are available on request and can be delivered forward as the situation permits. Due to the expected commitment of engineers to vehicle repair and recovery, units should anticipate limited immediate engineer availability for infantry support. Early ACE requests for medical, ammunition, and specialist equipment are therefore required to prevent delays during all phases of the operation. Units are to plan sustainment accordingly and report critical shortages without delay.
Medical
Platoon Medic will have medical leadership throughout this operation. Platoon medic will be moving along platoon leadership, with an MRAP for quick insertion and extraction if required.
