  • Review the fire mission request.
  • Determine whether the request is ACCEPTED, CHANGES, or DENIED.
  • Assign a Target ID if the request is ACCEPTED or CHANGES.
  • Ensure Target IDs are assigned sequentially.
  • Transmit any changes to the requested mission.
  • Transmit the Target ID.
  • Transmit the Time of Flight.
  • Receive acknowledgement from the observer.
  • Confirm a shared understanding of the mission before firing.

Fire Support Element Format

[Observer Callsign], this is [Fire Support Callsign], [Request Response], [Changes (if required)], Target ID [TXXX], Time of Flight [x] seconds

Observer Format

[Fire Support Callsign], changes acknowledged (if required), [Readback of Line 5]

Possible Request Responses

  • ACCEPTED
  • CHANGES, [changes to request]
  • DENIED, [reason]
