FM/BG-1896.V1.00 - PACE Plans
Establish alternative methods for maintaining critical communication and coordination functions.
- Identify functions critical to the operation.
- Establish a Primary, Alternate, Contingency and Emergency method for each critical function.
- Ensure alternative methods do not all depend on the same equipment or system.
- Define the conditions for moving between methods.
- Brief the plan to all affected elements.
- Confirm subordinate leaders understand the plan.
- Update the plan when capabilities or conditions change.
PACE plans may apply to:
- Command communications
- Communication with supporting assets
- Fire-support coordination
- Casualty evacuation
- Resupply
- Extraction and link-up
- Location or landing-site marking
Four methods dependent on the same radio network do not form an effective PACE plan.
