FM/BG-1902 - Uncontrolled Airfield Operations
An uncontrolled airfield is an airfield without Air Traffic Control (ATC). At an uncontrolled airfield, pilots are fully responsible for maintaining separation, spacing, and collision avoidance. To improve situational awareness, pilots should use the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) to broadcast their position, altitude, and intentions to other nearby aircraft.
The uncontrolled airfield take off procedure follows the process:
- FM/BG-1903 - Part 1: Engine Start and Departure Planning
- FM/BG-1904 - Part 2: Taxi and Runway Entry
- FM/BG-1905 - Part 3: Line-Up and Departure
Worked Example: FM/BG-1906 - Example: Departure from an Uncontrolled Airfield
