FM/BS-1304.V1.02 - Land a rotary aircraft on flat terrain
Land on flat terrain:
- Flare to lose horizontal momentum just before landing
- Level out the aircraft to prevent a tail rotor strike
- Lower the collective to a safe descent rate for the final couple of meters
- After touching the ground, keep the collective lowered until engine shut-off or taking off
