Coordinate transitions between the different stages of an operation.

  • Define the purpose and end condition of each phase.
  • Identify the element responsible for the main action in each phase.
  • Establish triggers for transitioning between phases.
  • Position follow-on and supporting elements before transition.
  • Confirm sustainment and casualty arrangements.
  • Communicate phase changes to affected leaders.
  • Adjust later phases when execution changes the situation.
