Establish Control Measures

Create control measures that support coordination and execution of the plan.

• Identify where coordination, reporting or movement control is required.
• Select control measures appropriate to the plan.
• Anchor control measures to recognisable terrain.
• Assign clear names and purposes.
• Tie each control measure to an action, restriction or reporting requirement.
• Deconflict boundaries, routes, fires and areas of responsibility.
• Brief control measures to all affected leaders.
• Remove unnecessary measures that add clutter without supporting control.
